The International Organisation for Migration (IOM), on Sunday, said that 79 illegal migrants were rescued and eight others went missing off the Libyan coast.
A Libyan Coast Guard patrol was said to have picked up 79 migrants from their wrecked boat stranded in the sea.
The source indicated that among the migrants were 13 women and seven children.
The migrants are said to have been returned safely to the Libya where they are receiving medical attention.
The UN body tweeted that “IOM staff are providing emergency assistance to 79 migrants returned to Libya by the coast guard today.”
