Apple has made significant changes to its self-driving car project. Initially planning to release an electric car with self-driving capabilities, the company has now cancelled this project after nearly a decade of development.

The decision to abandon the self-driving car initiative was communicated internally, with employees being reassigned to focus on AI efforts instead.

This move signifies a shift in Apple’s strategy away from entering the electric vehicle market and towards enhancing its existing products like the iPhone and iPad.

The cancelled project, internally known as ‘Titan,’ was a challenging endeavour for Apple, involving significant research and development costs.

The company had been testing autonomous driving technology on public roads for years but ultimately decided to discontinue the project, redirecting resources towards generative AI technologies and the development of the Vision Pro headset.
