Davido sues his Baby Mama Sophia Momodu over custody of Imade

Davido has sued his ex-girlfriend Sophia Momodu, the mother of his 9-year-old daughter Imade, seeking joint custody and unrestricted access to his child.

The 31-year-old singer filed the lawsuit at the Lagos State High Court on April 17, 2024, requesting the court grant him joint custody and an order allowing him unfettered access to Imade.

In the suit, Davido acknowledged his past relationship with Momodu, which produced their daughter Imade in 2015. 

However, he claimed that Momodu has been treating him with “unwarranted cruelty” and making “outlandish and Utopian demands” that frustrate his efforts to provide for their daughter.

Davido stated that he has been responsible for paying Imade’s school fees and meeting her educational needs, as well as providing a luxury apartment and vehicles for their daughter and Momodu. 

However, he alleged that Momodu rejected the apartment he purchased and demanded he continue paying rent for a different property.

The singer also claimed that Momodu demanded he pay their daughter’s nanny $800 monthly, totaling $19,600 per year, as a lump sum.

Davido asserted that despite his financial support, Momodu has threatened to change Imade’s surname to her own (Momodu).
