Michelle Obama Appears to Beat Donald Trump in New polls
A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted between July 1-2, 2024 reveals that in a hypothetical 2024 presidential election matchup, former First Lady Michelle Obama would defeat former President Donald Trump.
The survey shows that 50% of registered voters would support Obama, while 39% would back Trump, with 11% undecided, preferring another candidate, or abstaining if the election were held today.
The poll also pitted Trump against various potential Democratic contenders, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. In each scenario, the Democratic candidates garnered fewer votes compared to Trump, according to the survey findings.
Amidst these results, concerns have arisen within the Democratic party regarding President Joe Biden, the presumed Democratic nominee, following his lackluster debate performance against Trump last week. The debate highlighted Biden’s age, as he is currently 81 years old. Among the 1,070 U.S. residents surveyed, 56% expressed the belief that Biden should withdraw from the race post-debate.
As speculation swirls around Biden’s candidacy, the spotlight now shifts to Michelle Obama’s potential in the political arena, as indicated by the poll results.
The former First Lady has long been rumored as a potential candidate, but she has consistently denied any interest in running for office. However, the poll suggests that she could be a formidable contender if she were to enter the race.
It is important to note that this is a hypothetical scenario, and Michelle Obama has not announced any plans to run for president. The poll results should be interpreted with caution, as they do not necessarily reflect the actual outcome of a potential election.
