Morgan Wallen’s felony hearing has been rescheduled for December 12, 2024, after originally being set for August 15. The country music star is facing multiple charges stemming from an incident in April where he allegedly threw a chair off the roof of a Nashville bar, Chief’s, which is co-owned by fellow artist Eric Church.

Details of the Incident

Wallen, 31, was arrested on suspicion of throwing the chair from the top of the six-story establishment, leading to charges of three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses reported seeing Wallen throw the chair and laugh about it, with the chair landing just three feet away from two Metro Nashville Police officers who were present at the scene. The officers reviewed security footage and spoke to witnesses as part of their investigation.

Morgan Wallen’s Legal Proceedings

In May, Wallen waived his right to appear in court during a settlement hearing, but no resolution was reached at that time. His attorney, Worrick Robinson, indicated that the case is complex and would require subpoenas and witness testimonies to move forward. “Several things can happen in the case. We might have a hearing, we might settle the case, or the case might continue,” Robinson stated after a preliminary hearing.

Under Tennessee law, the three Class E felony charges Wallen faces carry potential prison sentences of one to six years per count, along with probation and fines. As of now, he has not entered a plea regarding the charges, but he did express remorse for his actions shortly after the incident. In a tweet on April 19, Wallen stated, “I’m not proud of my behavior, and I accept responsibility,” while also acknowledging his respect for law enforcement.

Impact on Career of Morgan Wallen

Despite the legal troubles, Wallen has continued with his music career. He resumed his One Night at a Time stadium tour shortly after the incident, promoting his album “One Thing at a Time,” which was the most-consumed album in the U.S. last year. Wallen is scheduled to kick off the European leg of his tour later this month, although he faced some setbacks over the summer due to illness.

As the new court date approaches, fans and industry observers will be watching closely to see how this situation unfolds and what impact it may have on Wallen’s career moving forward.
