Sony announced this development in an email sent out to both the development partners and users recently, this they say is part of a refresh ahead of the release of the PlayStation 5 in November.

However, even though this contents will no longer be made available for purchase on the PlayStation Store from the web or mobile, it will still be possible for people to make purchases by accessing the PlayStation Store directly from their PS3 or Vita and on a PS4 console.

Also, all previously purchased contents , apps, themes and avatars will remain valid and accessible.
