Sergio Pino, a highly successful and influential real estate developer in South Florida, was found dead in his home in an apparent suicide. Pino’s death came amid an ongoing FBI investigation into criminal allegations stemming from his bitter divorce battle with his wife of 32 years, Tatiana Pino.

Pino was the founder of Century Homebuilders Group, LLC, which he established in 1995 and grew into the largest Hispanic-owned homebuilding company in the nation.

Under his leadership, Century Homebuilders acquired, developed, and managed over 50 multi-family and condominium communities, accounting for more than 15,000 homes across Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

Prior to founding Century Homebuilders, Pino had his first business venture at the age of 20 with Century Plumbing, a retail plumbing supplier that became the largest Hispanic-owned plumbing company in the country.

Pino was also actively involved in the local community, serving as the president of the Latin Builders Association from 1989 to 1992 and holding leadership positions in various other organizations, including the Builders Association of South Florida, Public Health Trust, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and the Florida International University Board of Trustees.

Pino’s philanthropic efforts were also noteworthy, as he and his companies raised awareness and funds for numerous charitable causes, such as La Liga Contra el Cancer, the American Cancer Society, Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation Department, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Miami Children’s Hospital, and Habitat for Humanity.

He also significantly contributed to the Eugenio Pino & Family Global Entrepreneurship Center at Florida International University, which was named after his father and family.

The circumstances surrounding Pino’s death are deeply troubling, as he was found deceased in his home amid an ongoing FBI investigation into criminal allegations stemming from his divorce proceedings with his wife, Tatiana. The allegations involved claims of arson, stalking, and even accusations of poisoning, though Pino had not yet been charged with any crimes.

Pino’s passing is a tragic loss for the South Florida community, as he was a prominent and influential figure who had made significant contributions to the region’s real estate development and philanthropic landscape. The details surrounding his death and the ongoing investigation into the allegations against him only add to the complexity and sorrow of this situation.
