Trayon White Sr., A D.C. Councilmember Has Been Arrested by FBI
Washington, D.C. City Council member Trayon White Sr. was arrested by the FBI on Sunday afternoon, according to Council President Phil Mendelson. The circumstances surrounding White’s arrest remain unclear, with Mendelson stating he is “anxious to get more details to understand what is the situation.”
Trayon White Sr., who represents Ward 8 in Southeast D.C., has a history of controversial statements and actions. In March 2018, he made national headlines for suggesting that Jewish financiers, specifically the Rothschild family, control the weather and create natural disasters in their own cities. He made these claims in a now-deleted video while driving through downtown D.C. during a snowstorm.
The Rothschild family
The Rothschild family, a European Jewish banking dynasty, has been the subject of antisemitic conspiracy theories for centuries, with claims that they manipulate world events and control financial institutions. White initially defended his comments but later apologized to the Jewish community.
In addition to his remarks about the Rothschilds, Trayon White Sr. has also faced scrutiny for his interactions with prominent antisemitic figures. In 2013, he tweeted that he was “honored” to share a birthday with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, expressing respect for Farrakhan’s “intelligence, will, & boldness.”
Furthermore, in 2018, White came under fire for donating $500 to a Nation of Islam convention in Chicago, where Farrakhan made disparaging comments about “powerful Jews” being his enemy.
Despite the backlash, White refused to resign or back down, stating, “I am not resigning, I’m not backing down, I’m not discouraged, I’m not depressed, so run all the media stories you want because my people are going to support me.”
The FBI and Metropolitan Police Department have not yet provided further details on the charges or allegations against White. The situation continues to develop, and more information is expected to emerge in the coming days.
