Netherlands Fans Recreate Denzel Dumfries-Theo Hernandez Insulting Banner Ahead of EURO 2024 Clash

Netherlands supporters have recreated the insulting banner that earned Denzel Dumfries a fine, as the Inter wing-back faces France’s Milan defender Theo Hernandez again at EURO 2024.

There is a long-standing rivalry between these two players, who have been involved in a number of heated on-field incidents. In their most recent meeting, both Dumfries and Hernandez were sent off following a nasty brawl on the pitch at San Siro during an Inter Milan vs. AC Milan match.

The incident occurred in the final minutes of the match, which mathematically guaranteed Inter Milan’s Serie A title. Remarkably, Dumfries had only come on as a substitute and was sent off within six minutes for the violent altercation.

A few days later, during Inter Milan’s Scudetto celebrations, Dumfries proudly held aloft a banner showing him as a video game character holding a dog on a leash with the face of Theo Hernandez. This act earned Dumfries a €4,000 fine, with the same amount going to his club.

Now, ahead of the EURO 2024 clash between the Netherlands and France, Dutch fans have recreated the infamous banner and were seen carrying it into the stadium in Leipzig. Both Dumfries and Hernandez are starting for their respective national teams, setting the stage for another chapter in their bitter rivalry.

Denzel Dumfries is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a wing-back for Inter Milan. Theo Hernandez is a French professional footballer who plays as a defender for AC Milan.

The two players have a history of on-field confrontations, with their most recent incident occurring during an Inter Milan vs. AC Milan match in April 2024.

The Netherlands and France are set to face each other in a highly anticipated EURO 2024 match, with Dumfries and Hernandez expected to be on the pitch once again. The recreation of the insulting banner by Dutch fans adds further fuel to the ongoing rivalry between the two players and their national teams.
