Sen. JD Vance has been accused of taking sides with Russian

Ohio Senator JD Vance has been accused of taking positions on the Ukraine war that align with the interests of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

JD Vance has been a leading critic of U.S. support for Ukraine, arguing that the aid provided is futile and that Ukraine does not have the manpower or resources to defeat the Russian invasion.

He has voted against additional funding for Ukraine and called for immediate negotiations to end the war, despite Ukraine’s legitimate government pleading for assistance.

Critics argue that JD Vance stance would only embolden Putin to further expand Russia’s boundaries and undermine neighboring democracies. They say Vance’s policies go against the interests of Americans and the free world in relation to Russia and Ukraine.

Experts point out that Putin sees himself as a successor to figures like Stalin and Peter the Great, with goals of power, greatness, and revenge against the West. They argue that stopping U.S. support for Ukraine, as Vance advocates, would allow Putin to achieve his ambitions of creating a new Eurasian empire and separating Europe from the U.S.

Sen. JD Vance and Putin Relationship

While Vance has acknowledged that Putin is not a “kind and friendly person,” he has prioritized other global issues over opposing the Russian president. This stance is seen as aligning with Putin’s interests, as the Russian leader likely welcomes the prospect of reduced U.S. involvement in Ukraine.

Experts argue that the U.S. and its allies should maintain support for Ukraine to grind down Russia’s military capabilities and convince Putin that he cannot achieve his expansionist goals.

They contend that cutting off aid to Ukraine would embolden Putin and potentially lead to further aggression against NATO allies, which the U.S. is treaty-bound to defend.
