Snapchill Recall All Its Canned Coffee Products Due to Botulism Toxin Risk
Snapchill LLC, a company based in Green Bay, Wisconsin, has issued a voluntary recall of all its canned coffee products due to concerns about the potential growth and production of botulinum toxin, a deadly toxin. The company failed to file its manufacturing process with the FDA, which led to the recall.
Botulism is a potentially fatal form of food poisoning that can result from the consumption of products with botulinum toxin. The toxin can cause muscle weakness, paralysis, and even death. The FDA has identified canned coffee products as low-acid foods that require a specific canning process to prevent botulism.
The recalled products were distributed nationwide through various coffee roasters and retail locations, and they were also sold directly online by Snapchill. These products were available under various roaster and brand names, in can sizes ranging from 7 to 12 ounces. The FDA has listed over 250 specific products included in this recall.
Consumers can identify the recalled products by looking for the language “Produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC” under the nutrition facts panel on the can. The recall is for all products on the list, regardless of purchase date or expiration date.
Action to Take for the Snapchill Recall
Consumers who happen to have purchased the recalled canned coffee should therefore either destroy the products or try to return them to Snapchill or their place of purchase for a full refund immediately.
