Czech Republic to Deliver 9 EA DITA 155mm Self-Propelled Howitzers to Ukraine
The Czech Republic is set to deliver nine brand new EA DITA 155mm self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine, with the Netherlands funding this acquisition.
These advanced artillery units are part of a larger Dutch order for Ukraine and are manufactured by the Czech arms manufacturer Excalibur Army. The DITA howitzers feature a highly automated system, an advanced onboard control system, NATO standard 155 mm ammunition, a firing range of 39 km, and a two-member crew.
Netherlands’ Contribution
The Netherlands has ordered these DITA self-propelled gun-howitzer vehicles for Ukraine, with the Dutch Defense Ministry confirming the purchase. Additionally, the Netherlands will allocate over EUR 100 million to support the Czech initiative to deliver shells for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
This move is part of broader efforts by the Netherlands to assist Ukraine, including previous orders of anti-aircraft guns and main battle tanks from the Czech Republic.
Deployment and Support
Following successful testing, these howitzers will be dispatched to Ukraine. Moreover, the Dutch Defense Chief Gen. Onno Eichelsheim mentioned that while the Netherlands does not rule out Western troop deployment to Ukraine, it is not currently deemed opportune. This initiative underscores international support for Ukraine amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions.
