Keeping track of your data balance is essential to ensure you don’t run out of data unexpectedly. If you’re an Airtel subscriber, checking your data balance is quick and easy. In this post, I’ll walk you through the simple steps to check Airtel data balance.

This post is very important because some network providers in Nigeria just recently change many of their old shortcodes, so will be looking at those codes below.

Step 1: Open the Dialer on Your Phone

Start by opening the dialer on your smartphone. This is the app you usually use to make calls.

Step 2: Dial the USSD Code

Next, enter the USSD code to check your Airtel data balance. The new code for Airtel data balance that you need to dial is Dial *140#

Step 3: Select the Option

After dialing the USSD code, you’ll see a menu with different options displayed on your screen. These options typically include Data Plans, Recharge, Borrow Airtime, Acct bal, Data bal, and more.

Step 4: Choose Data Balance

Since this guide is on how to check your Airtel data balance, select the option that corresponds to data services. 

But because it is a USSD code method, you will now have to go back to your dial pad and type the code *323#

 You will receive a message stating that your data balance will be texted to you shortly

Step 5: View Your Data Balance

Once you’ve selected the data balance option, your Airtel data balance will be displayed on your screen. The balance information typically includes your remaining data volume or usage limit, validity period, and any additional details about your data plan.

What you need to do instead is to dial a different code and that code is *121#

After these menu displays, proceed to select the service of your choice, i.e. press 2 if you want to purchase data or 4 to borrow credit, etc.

If you selected 2 for data bundles the next menu will pop up and you get to choose your desired option.

Input your desired number at this stage and press send.
