Iman Abdulmajid, commonly known as Iman, is a Somali-American model, actress, and entrepreneur. Iman was born on July 25, 1955, in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Iman began her modeling career back in 1975, when she was discovered by the photographer Peter Beard while he was studying political science at the University of Nairobi in Kenya. 

She moved to the United States in 1976 and quickly became one of the most successful models of her time.
