The Rothschild family is renowned for its legacy in banking and finance, dating back to the late 18th century when Mayer Amschel Rothschild founded the banking dynasty in Frankfurt, Germany. Jacob Rothschild belongs to the English branch of the family, which established itself as one of the leading financial institutions in the United Kingdom.

Rothschild was educated at Eton College and then attended Christ Church, Oxford, where he studied history, gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree.
