During the test flight, the Super Heavy booster fired all 33 of its Raptor engines before executing a “hot staging” maneuver, where the Starship upper stage’s engines ignited while still attached before separating.

While the landing burn of the booster did not go as planned, resulting in its breakup above the ocean, the Starship upper stage successfully performed its burn and reached its planned suborbital trajectory. The test flight also included significant milestones such as an in-space propellant transfer demonstration as part of a NASA contract.

Overall, the test flight marked a step forward in the development of SpaceX’s Starship vehicle, showcasing its progress and capabilities despite encountering some challenges during the mission.
